Torpedoes are a category of weapon modules which can be mounted on ships with T-slots. Torpedo projectiles are typically slower, larger, and more damaging than cannon projectiles. They also have a moderate AoE and most of them do energy damage. Compared to missiles, they don't have to worry about other projectiles or explosions detonating them prematurely but point defense systems can still destroy them.

Torpedoes are heavily affected by the user's ship trajectory which can have major implications in high speed combat. Because of this, a targeting unit is not recommended for torpedo ships the player plans on strafing with.

Overall, torpedoes are best suited for taking out slow and large ships with poor energy resistance. Their explosiveness makes them particularly suited for destroying drone carriers.

Proton Torpedoes []

Proton Torpedoes are found in the Koreran's tech tree. They shoot slow to mid-speed energy balls which explode on touch. These will likely be the first torpedoes the player will be able to find and use. Proton torpedoes deal energy damage.

EMP Torpedoes []

EMP Torpedoes are found in the Koreran and the Empire's tech trees. EMP Torpedoes shoot bright blue energy balls which specialize in depleting the target's energy storage to render them helpless against enemy assault. They also do critical damage to shields. Their energy damage and drainage can be partially resisted with a high energy absorption build.

Other Torpedoes []

Heavy Plasma Torpedo M1[]

The Heavy Plasma Torpedo M1 are found in the Jurgan tech tree. These torpedoes fire massive, slow, energy balls which pierces until its energy is depleted. Unlike other Torpedoes, these deal heat damage. Heavy Plasma Torpedo M1's can be used to devastating effectiveness against large targets such as Starbases.

Heavy Quantum Torpedo[]

The Heavy Quantum Torpedoes are found in the Jurgan tech tree. These torpedoes fire massive, extremely slow, homing, and long lasting energy balls with good AoE. Because they are extremely slow, they are better suited for area denial unless the target is stationary. They can be considered an inferior Stalker Missile that does energy damage.

Heavy Anti-matter Torpedo[]

Heavy Anti-matter Torpedoes are found in the Unknown tech tree. They are essentially torpedo equivalents of Tachyon Beams in that their range and damage depends on how charged they are. At their maximum charge level they will fire a high ranged shot which can deal devastating amounts of energy damage. One of the strongest torpedo to destroy Capital Ships and starbases. You can add High Energy Focus to increase the damage output.

Heavy Acid Torpedo[]

Heavy Acid Torpedoes are associated with the Scavengers faction. Like other acid weapons, these torpedoes deal no-type damage which is extremely effective against starbases due to ignores any resistance. This weapon is one of the strongest torpedo weapon in the game. Upon firing they will shoot a small green ball which will burst into a high damage cloud of acid which lingers for 30 seconds. Their high power comes at a high energy cost and long reload time. Best paired with High Energy Focus to increase the damage. They are also one of the largest torpedoes in the game which greatly limits what ships can use them. The only cruiser that can mount this weapon is Corn.

Cluster Torpedo[]

Cluster Torpedoes are associated with the Scavengers faction. This weapon deals energy damage. When fired, it'll shoot light blue torpedo ball. When exploded, it divided into 7 sub-torpedoes that is smaller. This torpedo is effective against Capital Ships but less effective against starbases. You can also add High Energy Focus to increase the damage, or Automated Reloader for faster reload. Also one of the strongest torpedo other than Heavy Acid and Heavy Anti-matter ones.
